Fitchburg grinding machine, grinding wheel position control using stepper motor.

The system uses products from the Siemens Simatic Step 7 range.

It has a CPU 314 together with a stepper module FM353.

The operator panel has a Simatic OP7 HMI unit for input and display of machine variables.

The grinding wheel axis has a ball screw with a Siemens stepper motor attached.

The stepper motor power drive is also Siemens using a FM STEP DRIVE unit.
